On
Slashdot this morning I saw an
article on Motorola’s new super-wireless chipset. It includes Wifi, Bluetooth, and
GSM. That sounds really interesting. I like the concept of Bluetooth. For those who don’t know, it’s a wireless protocol for “personal area networks”. In other words, devices in close proximity to each other can communicate wirelessly. An application that’s available today is using a cell-phone with bluetooth to sync up with your comptuer; or syncing your palm with your phone; or using a wireless headset with your phone.
Anyway,
milosoftware shared this scenario:
I have a very vivid image of Saddam sitting behind a Gates powered laptop that goes:
“New hardware found: US Laser Guided Missile”
And then asks for DirectMedia? 8 to be able to get a live cam view

I think I’ve blogged on this before. If you want to get a glimpse of how some of the “other half” live, take a look at Dear Raed. It’s a group blog on Blogger.com written by a few Iraqis. I think they are all pretty much in their 20s. It’s very interesting to get their perspectives on things and what their lives are like. This is a particularly interesting piece talking about the burning of oil and the social connotations associated with it. Blogger seems to be getting hammered. I bet this site’s hit count is going to go through the roof over the next several weeks.

Last night President Bush announced to the world that Sadam Hussen and his sons had 48 hours to leave Iraq. If they failed to do so we would attack at a time of our choosing. I don’t know if I really support the Gulf War II or not. I regret that it’s going to happen. I pray almost daily that it can be avoided somehow. Even with that said, I thought the President’s speach was pretty good. It was pretty quick and high level. He very clearly layed out his intentions. I hope his concern and accomodations for the Iraqi people is genuine. I pray for them most of all.
